Nearly 300 Marlin graduates were urged to "get in the game" and make the world better during Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Wesleyan's 48th Commencement Ceremony May 20 in the Jane P. Batten Student Center.
The Class of 2017 is the last class to graduate from Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Wesleyan "College" and included approximately 300 graduates who received Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Social Work degrees. The College will transition to a University in the fall.

"Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Wesleyan College has prepared you well," said keynote speaker David R. Goode, retired Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Norfolk Southern Corporation. "Your mascot, the Marlin, is entirely fitting: You are now big fish, entering the big sea.  Make progress and swim with the flow when the tide is right, but have the courage to press against the current when change in direction is necessary."

Their Future is Our Focus
Ï㽶ÊÓƵ welcomes its newest Class of 2017 Marlins to the alumni ranks. Ninety percent of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ new graduates are employed or enrolled in graduate school within one year. VWU graduates benefit from a rigorous and dynamic academic program with hands-on experiences like research projects under the guidance of talented faculty members, internships with local businesses, and culturally immersive study away opportunities. All of these critical opportunities that prepare them for the next step in their lives and careers are supported by The Excellence Fund.

Many alumni, parents and friends of the University have already contributed to The Excellence Fund this year - thank you! If you've not yet made your gift, please consider doing so by June 30 at www.vwu.edu/giveonline. View The Wesleyan Society Members Honor Roll.
